Man City set to sign Rory Delap's son - reports

Manchester City are expected to sign teenage Derby County striker Liam Delap.

The 16-year-old forward has impressed for the Rams' youth teams this season.

Liam, the son of former Stoke City defender Rory Delap, has been on Man City's radar for the last few years and DerbyshireLive report that he is now set to join their Elite Development Squad.

The Championship side would be due compensation from City for development due to his age.

Delap made headlines earlier this year after he impressed for England Under-16s at the Mercedes Benz Aegean Tournament in Turkey.

The youngster took home the Golden Boot after finishing top scorer in the tournament with four goals.

He opened his account in England's first match - a 2-0 victory over Albania, and followed that up with a brace in a 5-1 win against Moldova.

Delap was on target again as Kevin Betsy's side took on the hosts but a 2-1 defeat left them taking third place in the tournament.

He has been playing for Derby's title-winning under-18 side this season but now is set to join Man City as the latest prospect in the club's Academy.
