Manchester City are heavily scouting Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Florian Wirtz, according to reports.
The transfer window only shut a few weeks back but attention has already turned to what upcoming windows could bring for City.
Teenage starlet Wirtz, who has been taken the Bundesliga by storm over the last year, is the latest player that Pep Guardiola's side have been credited with an interest in.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder became Leverkusen's youngest ever player when he made his senior debut towards the end of the 2019/20 season and he has only gone from strength to strength since.
Wirtz contributed eight goals and eight assists last season and looks set to smash that tally this time around as he already has five goals and four assists after just six games.
Unsurprisingly, the German has been linked with a big move away from Leverkusen as a result and City are reportedly one of the clubs showing an interest.
According to Christian Falk of SportBild, City have been scouting Wirtz 'intensely' but Premier League rivals Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all interested as well.
However, all the English clubs will have to compete with the pull of Bayern Munich, who are said to be 'leading the race' for a transfer in 2023.
Leverkusen secured Wirtz to a new contract until 2026 earlier this year and are determined to keep hold of him for two more years at least.
Meanwhile, City's biggest priority in the next summer window will be to finally bring in a striker to the club following the departure of Sergio Aguero.
According to Italian journalist Ciro Venearto, via Sports Moles, the Blues are looking for alternatives after failing to sign Harry Kane and have identified Napoli's Victor Osimhen as a potential target.
The 22-year-old Nigerian joined the Italian club for £63million from Lille last year and has 16 goals for the club in 36 games.
