Man City’s stance on Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks amid £40m transfer links

Harry Winks will not be moving from Tottenham to Manchester City this summer, amid reports of interest in the 24-year-old from Pep Guardiola's side.

It was claimed that the Man City boss was lining up a move for the England international midfielder, with Spurs willing to listen to offers in the region of £40 million in order to raise funds for more signing in the transfer window.

However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News , Man City have no intention of making a move for the player with the club seeing no need to add to the defensive midfield position in this transfer window.

XI players linked with a Spurs transfer

City spent a club record £62 million on Rodri this time last year, and also have Ilkay Gundogan who is able to play in the position.

The arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton has increased the competition in the Tottenham midfield, with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, and Gedson Fernandes among the other options for Jose Mourinho.

The Spurs boss is looking to add his own stamp to the squad this summer, but may need to sell in order to raise more funds to be able to do so.

However, it seems that it won’t be Man City providing some of that, with the MEN adding that while Guardiola is a fan of Winks, he is not looking to add him to his squad at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Winks made a total of 41 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season, playing the full 90 minutes of each of Spurs’ last six Premier League games of the campaign.
