Manchester City will not be making an approach to Sergio Ramos this summer despite being his agents contacting the club offering up his services.
The 35-year-old defender has parted ways with Real Madrid after 16 years after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
Ramos had initially stalled over a one-year extension offer from the Los Blancos as he was against taking a 10% pay cut written into the agreement and wanted an extra year.
By the time he had decided to accept the extension, Madrid had taken the contract off the table, ending the veteran's time at the Bernabeu.
Several big clubs across Europe have been contacted regarding the possibility of signing the centre-back on a free transfer, but City have opted against entering the running.
According to Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness ), Pep Guardiola has no intentions of letting Aymeric Laporte leave the club, despite reports linking him with a move elsewhere.
Guardiola is keen to keep Laporte, Ruben Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake at the Etihad and continue developing them as his four options in central defence.
As such, Guardiola has no need for another player in that position and strengthening in that area is not something he is even considering.
Signing Ramos would not exactly be a cheap option anyway, regardless of the fact he could be acquired without a transfer fee.
He is reportedly demanding an annual salary of around £10million, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United now the favourites to land his signature.
A move to Major League Soccer is also an option though it is thought Ramos would prefer a switch to PSG if the opportunity presents.
Real Madrid have already brought in David Alaba from Bayern Munich on a free transfer to replace Ramos, who broke down in tears at his official farewell ceremony.

"The first thing I want to say is that I never wanted to leave. I wanted to stay here," Ramos said in a press conference.
"I didn't realise the offer had an expiry date. There will be many opinions about me but I'd prefer people to know the full story first and the president and club know it wasn't about money, they offered me one year and I wanted two."
Ramos has been linked with a return to former club Sevilla but he claims that is not something either he or they are considering.
Madrid could yet raid Sevilla for 22-year-old defender Jules Kounde, who is seen as an ideal addition to their defensive options.
But Kounde has a release clause worth €80million in his contract - a figure Madrid cannot afford given their current financial restrictions.
However, they could raise much of the cash by offloading Raphael Varane, who is refusing to sign a new deal with just 12 months left to run on his current contract.
United are also interested in snapping up Varane with talks expected with his agents this week.
