Man City's Joao Cancelo sends adorable gesture to his girlfriend and baby daughter while in lockdown

Manchester City's Joao Cancelo has tugged at heartstrings after making an adorable gesture while in lockdown.

The 25-year-old right-back no doubt lifted spirits by sending flowers to his girlfriend Daniela Machado and their baby girl Alicia.

The doting dad gifted two gorgeous heart-shaped floral arrangements, with roses forming their initials, to mark four months since Alicia's birth.

The larger arrangement was for Alicia and the smaller one for their 'princess' who arrived into the world in December.

The parents shared pictures and video of the flowers on their Instagram stories, and Daniela wrote "four months of you" with a loveheart.

Announcing Alicia's arrival the Portuguese football star told his Instagram followers on December 24: "A blessing only God could give me. Alicia Cancelo. BLESSED #mommyblessme."

And on New Year's Eve he wrote, with a photo of the proud parents with their daughter: "Not only the best of 2019 but the best of my life. Another blessed year."

Last month he posted a super-cute photo of a smiling Alicia, wearing a pink babygrow and matching headband, and wrote: "The reason for my smile is you. Endless love, my angel.

"Three months of you #princessalicia."

Joao joined Premier League champions City from Juventus last August.

In a moving post about his move to Manchester Daniela called it 'the first day of the rest of our lives.'

Sharing a photo of the couple together as he signed for City, she said: "It is precisely 7 years and 8 months since we shared this now common dream, football.

"We've already covered miles with the house behind us. Portugal, Spain, Italy and now England.

"Almost 8 years later and I think this will be our biggest challenge, since it is not just the two of us but three. Or rather we are five, along with our two furry loves.

"No matter how many times life goes, with love nothing will be lacking and this will always be the dish mainly served at the table in our house, Love.

"I am sure that you will shine and show everyone what I already know, that you are the best."

Joao has given fans an insight into his lockdown fitness routine as a a question mark still hangs over the continuation of the 2019/20 season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

His latest rigorous workout included jumping squats, high knees, speed skaters and lateral jumps.
