Man City's Joao Cancelo involved in three-way transfer with FC Barcelona and Inter and more rumours

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo will be a part of a three-way transfer including Barcelona's Nelson Semedo and Inter's Lautaro Martinez, according to reports.

Cancelo arrived at City with much anticipation after his £60million switch from Juventus last summer, though half the fee was recouped with Danilo heading the other way, but he hasn't lived up to expectations at the Etihad.

The 25-year-old has made 24 appearances this season, with only 11 coming in the Premier League, and was left out of the squad entirely for the Carabao Cup final victory in February.

Cancelo's lack of action led to speculation that he could be in for a swift exit in January and he has continued to be linked with a move away as the summer transfer window approaches.

The latest speculation from Sport, via SportWitness, suggests that the Portuguese will be involved in a complex transfer chain that would have ramifications for Barca and Inter.

The report states that a deal is being negotiated which would see Cancelo head to the Camp Nou with his fellow countryman Semedo heading in the opposite direction.

Cancelo wouldn't be staying in Catalonia for long, however, as he would then reportedly be sent to Inter as part of the deal to sign highly-rated striker Martinez.

Jorge Mendes, who represents both Cancelo and Semedo, is said to be key to the arrangement and that all three players are happy with the deal.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has told clubs that they must follow strict financial guidelines next season to help cope with the coronavirus crisis, which may explain why so many swap deals are being touted.

Meanwhile, City are reportedly facing competition for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Edouard Michut from Juventus.

The 17-year-old midfielder has a year remaining on his contract and, according to Corriere dello Sport, via SportWitness, the Serie A giants are hoping to snap him up on a free when it expires.

However, it's reported that Pep Guardiola wants the player immediately and that City may pay a fee to secure his signature.
