Man City's Ederson is already inspiring other goalkeepers in England

Since his arrival in English football Man City goalkeeper Ederson has revolutionised the position between the sticks and is now starting to influence other goalkeepers throughout the country.

When manager Pep Guardiola first took charge at the Etihad he immediately set about bringing a new goalkeeper to the club, as legend Joe Hart wasn't that capable with the ball at his feet and was on the decline.

Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was signed but the move didn't go well at all. On his debut in the Manchester derby his kamikaze-esque goalkeeping nearly allowed United to get back into the game and he never really recovered from the start.

The next Guardiola showed his ruthless streak and splashed £36million to bring Ederson to the club and he has been first choice ever since.

In his 100 appearances for the Blues he has conceded just 74 goals and kept 49 clean sheets, yet it's his ability with the ball at his feet that is being an inspiration to over goalkeepers in the country.

Derby County shot stopper Kelle Roos finally broke into the Rams team this past season and had a stellar campaign as Frank Lampard's side made the play-off final.

The Dutchman is being coached by another former City 'keeper in Shay Given at Pride Park and he has revealed that Ederson is a being influence for him.

"With Given, I went to a Manchester City match three times to see Ederson at work. Not to talk to him, but to look at him," Roose told De Gelderlander.

"I try to absorb his strengths and copy them where possible. The same applies to Alisson, De Gea and Neuer. By mirroring myself to them, I try to improve myself."
