Man City's chances of going entire Premier League season undefeated assessed

There is just over a week to go until the new Premier League season begins, where Manchester City will be aiming to win the title for the third season in a row.

Pep Guardiola's side have been in sensational form during the past two seasons, accumulating a total of 197 points combined from both title-winning campaigns.

Losing just twice in 2017/18, City then endured four defeats last term as they edged Liverpool to the title - which means Arsenal have retained their tag of being the only side in the competition's history to avoid defeat for an entire season.

That record set in 2004 was the last time the Gunners lifted the Premier League title and City have shown the capability of equalling that achievement in recent years, despite falling short.

As such, the bookies believe that City have a chance of going the entire Premier League campaign unbeaten in 19/20 as Ladbrokes have priced Guardiola's men at 22/1 to avoid defeat next term.

That price is significantly higher than last season's runners-up Liverpool, who are priced at 40/1 to go the season unbeaten - despite the Reds losing just one last year.

Going an entire season unbeaten is certainly not an easy task though and City will face the added challenge of extended involvement in other competitions, as they seek to defeat their crowns in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, as well as progressing in the Champions League.
