Man City 'rival Real Madrid for Bayern Munich defender' and more transfer rumours

Manchester City will look to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies if he leaves the German side and could rival Real Madrid for his signature.

City are also being linked with a move for Davies' Bayern team-mate Joshua Kimmich.

Bayern have just sealed the Bundesliga title, snatching it away from Borussia Dortmund on the last day of the campaign. Bayern's attention now switches to the summer transfer window and which players could arrive and depart from Thomas Tuchel's side.

Davies' contract runs until the summer of 2025 as things stand. It means next summer is the last chance for Bayern to be able to command a big fee for the Canadian international, if he does not agree fresh terms before then.

The player's agent has said the current situation at Bayern is 'chaotic' and suggested that it could be better to wait until next summer to discuss the potential of renewing his deal. It opens the door to a potential move elsewhere in time.

According to Spanish publication AS, both Real Madrid and City will try and sign the defender if he does end up leaving Bayern. Pep Guardiola's side are described as 'interested' in Davies' situation.

Elsewhere, Barcelona believe Ilkay Gundogan could be part of a 'holy trinity of free transfers' this summer along with Inigo Martinez and Lionel Messi, the Daily Mail reports. Gundogan's contract at City expires this summer and could walk away for free if fresh terms are not agreed.
