Man City risk falling into Jadon Sancho trap as Sergio Aguero receives message of support

Hello and welcome to a Sunday edition of the City Is Ours daily digest, your daily dose of Manchester City related news.

Concern is growing at City over the contract situation of one academy standout. Will he end up leaving like Jadon Sancho did?

City showed support for club great Sergio Aguero after a worrying development on Saturday evening, while a move for a young star in Brazil could be easier to pull off than first thought.

Sancho 2.0

According to SunSport, City are concerned over the growing interest from Premier League rivals in academy gem James McAtee.

City are keen to tie the 19-year-old - dubbed the 'Salford Silva' - to a long-term deal, as they have done with fellow youngsters Liam Delap and Cole Palmer.

However, McAtee is yet to agree to a new contract. With just 18 months remaining on his current deal, both Manchester United and Liverpool are starting to sniff around.

Should the worst come to the worst and McAtee does join one of City's rivals, then the Blues will have fallen into another Jadon Sancho trap.

Alongside Phil Foden, Sancho was one of the stars of City's EDS side in 2016/17. He was set to join up with the first-team for pre-season in the summer of 2017 but, when contract talks with City broke down, they moved him on.

Pretty much as soon as Sancho arrived at Borussia Dortmund in 2017 he started developing into one of the best young attackers in European football. After four years in Germany, he returned to England to sign for United. He hasn't yet shown his full abilities in red, but he will soon.

If City want to avoid a repeat, then they need to agree terms with McAtee, sooner rather than later.

Get well soon, Sergio!

Worrying images came out of Barcelona on Saturday evening, as former City man Sergio Aguero went down off the ball in Barca's 1-1 draw with Alaves.

Shortly before half-time he left the field without the need for a stretcher, having experienced discomfort in his chest.

Later on, it was reported that he had been taken to hospital for further cardiac tests as his heart rate was much higher than it should have been.

After the game, City sent a message of support to their all-time record goalscorer via their official Twitter account.

It's news that will no doubt concern City fans and everyone at the club.

Get well soon, Kun!

Next Gabriel Jesus?

According to Sport Witness, City have just received some positive news regarding their search for a new striker.

The club are reportedly keen on signing 20-year-old Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto, currently of Brazilian club Internacional, and it appears that the asking price will be significantly lower than anticipated.

The youngster, who has scored 11 goals in 27 Brazilian Serie A games this season, has a €60m release clause in his contract, but Internacional are seemingly willing to negotiate.

The club want at least €16-18m for their young star, a figure that means City could even try and sign him in January rather than next summer.

City have done pretty well when it comes to recruiting young players from Brazil. Gabriel Jesus has been an important first team fixture in recent seasons, while Kayky looks like he will mature into a top player.
