Man City repeat stance on UEFA investigation in their 2019 annual report

Manchester City have repeated that they remain confident of a positive outcome from UEFA's investigation into the club.

The club issued a statement in May in response to media reports that they could be banned from the Champions League as a result of an investigation into allegations that the Blues had broken Financial Fair Play rules.

City's unusual step of appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) before a verdict has been announced was dismissed last week, and all parties are still waiting for a decision.

However, in announcing their annual report for the 2018/19 season the club reiterated that they are confident over what is to come.

On the 46th page of the 47-page document, it read: "The directors welcomed the opening of a formal UEFA investigation as an opportunity to bring to an end the speculation resulting from the illegal hacking and out of context publication of club emails.

"The directors are entirely confident of a positive outcome when the matter is considered by an independent judicial body."

While City have largely kept their silence around the investigation, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak at the end of last season indicated that the club was comfortable with their position as long as they were given a fair trial.

"We have clear answers. I believe, quite comfortably, if the process is going to be judged on facts then unquestionably we will prevail," he told club media. "If it’s not about facts and it’s about other things, then it is a different conversation. But I strongly hope that these regulatory bodies will ultimately make the decision based on facts."
