Man City receive Dusan Vlahovic boost as Sergio Aguero gets in Lewis Hamilton's slipstream

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours digest, your daily dose of Manchester City news you might have missed.

City face an almighty scrap to sign striker Dusan Vlahovic, although one of his demands appears to put the Premier League champions at the front of a sizable queue.

Meanwhile, Sergio Aguero has hinted at what he might get up to post-football and Mercedes tried to follow City's lead after Sunday's incredible conclusion to the Formula One season.

Vlahovic hint

Erling Haaland aside, Dusan Vlahovic is probably the hottest property in European football right now.

His goal-scoring exploits for Italian side Fiorentina have a whole host of heavyweights, including City, PSG, Arsenal and Real Madrid, chasing his signature.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport though, one of Vlahovic's requirements makes City one of the favourites to win the race.

Vlahovic wants to move to a club that has a good chance of winning the Champions League, something City can safely say they have.

Should Pep Guardiola's side win the Serbian's favour, then they would likely have to pay Fiorentina €60-70million for his services.

Our take

If winning the Champions League is an important goal for Vlahovic, then there are few teams better equipped to help him achieve it than City.

Arsenal are certainly not in a position to do so for at least another few years, while the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus lack the strength in depth, and tactical mastermind that City posses.

Bayern Munich could be City's main competitor and will be looking for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski before too long.

Aguero finds a new hobby

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Sergio Aguero is set to announce his retirement from football on Wednesday, after the discovery of a hearth arrhythmia condition a few weeks ago.

It would be a sad way for Kun to end a glittering career - everyone at City Is Ours wishes him all the best.

On a brighter note, City's all-time leading goal-scorer will have more time on his hands to pursue one of his hobbies.

Aguero was photographed at Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix along with former teammates Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott, and witnessed in-person an Aguerooooooo-like comeback from Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.

On the theme of cars... Mundo Deportivo has reported that Aguero has listed his £200,000 Lamborghini Aventador, which he bought in 2014 while at City, on Autotrader. If anyone happens to find 200 grand down the back of the sofa, give us a shout.

Formula One mayhem

Aguero wasn't the only City-associated name at the Grand Prix.

Mercedes lodged two appeals after the controversial end to the race, which saw Verstappen pip Lewis Hamilton to the title despite the Englishman having dominated the race.

The first appeal related to an alleged illegal overtake on Verstappen's part, and the second for a breach of rules regarding race restarts after a safety car period.

Mercedes took a leaf out of City's book by taking lawyer Paul Harris QC into the post-race discussions with them, one of the men who represented City in their case against UEFA in the Court of Arbitration for Sport last year.

Harris was unable to sway the decisions in Verstappen's favour, but the matter could yet end up in CAS.

Our take

There seems to be no end to the links between City and CAS, does there? Mercedes? Sign them up - welcome to the CFG family, Lewis!
