Man City reach transfer decision over 'next Jadon Sancho' ahead of January window

Manchester City are set to give promising young winger Jayden Braaf the green light to seek a permanent exit from the Etihad in January.

Braaf was named as City's Under-23s Player of the Year in 2020 after the youngster linked up with the club's academy back in 2018 and has been likened to City alumni Jadon Sancho.

But Braaf has grown frustrated after struggling to muscle his way into Pep Guardiola 's plans.

The 19-year-old is keen to kickstart his career with a permanent move away from Manchester, where he has just six months remaining on his current deal.

And according to The Manchester Evening News, City have indicated that they won't stand in Braaf's way if an opportunity for him to move on arises in January - just as they did previously with Sancho.

Sancho too grew frustrated after joining the club's academy in his youth and pined for a move away.

After getting his wish back in 2017, Sancho has flourished away from City.

The 21-year-old is now a full England international and back in the Premier League with Manchester United after wrapping up a huge £73m transfer in the summer.

Braaf seemingly had an escape route lined up last year when he linked up with Serie A side Udinese, who had an option to turn a season-long loan deal into a permanent one with a £9m option.

But disaster struck for the Dutchman when he suffered knee ligament damage just four games into his Italian adventure.

With Braaf now closing in on a return to action, City are ready to help facilitate a move for the youngster to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

A number of clubs from overseas are reportedly keen on striking a cut-price deal for the talented teenager.

City's stance on Braaf shouldn't come as a real surprise after his comments on Ferran Torres, who wrapped up a £52million move to Barcelona earlier this week.

Guardiola gave the Spanish international his blessing to seal a dream move to the La Liga giants just 18 months after arriving in the Premier League.

Torres had been a regular for City at the start of the season before picking up an injury on international duty for Spain.

Before Torres' switch was confirmed, the City chief said: "If you want to leave because you’re not happy here, you believe you’ll be happy in another place, you have to go.

"The career is short, one day it’s over. If he wants to leave, absolutely no disappointment. It’s his desire, I’m happy for him."
