Man City predicted team to face Tottenham as Pep Guardiola hopes to welcome back key duo

Tottenham Hotspur will be going in search of a fourth successive Premier League victory when they lock horns with Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

Spurs will welcome Pep Guardiola's side to north London looking to build on their 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion prior to the international break.

Victory over the Baggies, which was secured by Harry Kane's 150th Premier League goal, ensured Spurs went into the two-week break second in the table, five points ahead of City, who have struggled for consistency so far this term.

A win for Spurs, who have won their last two home meetings with City, would see them go top of the pile ahead of Leicester City's clash with Liverpool on Sunday evening at Anfield.

Jose Mourinho press conference preview of Tottenham vs Man City

Whilst the season is still in its early stages, a win for Jose Mourinho's side would go an awfully long way in outsiders considering Spurs as genuine title contenders, whilst at the same time it would open up an eight-point gap on City with just nine games played.

With Guardiola hoping that Spurs do not open up that advantage, the Spaniard will be relieved to have attacking duo Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling available for selection.

Aguero has not featured since last month's 1-1 draw with West Ham United whilst Sterling pulled out of the England squad ahead of their 4-0 win over Iceland on Wednesday evening with a calf complaint.

Despite that, Guardiola has confirmed both are in contention to make the squad for the trip to the capital, although he did not reveal whether or not they would definitely start and step off the bench.

Guardiola told City's club website: “Sergio trained this week. Raheem trained for the first time today with the team.”

Whilst Aguero and Sterling, who have netted a combined total of six goals this season, are in contention to make returns, City will definitely be without summer signing Nathan Ake and midfield enforcer Fernandinho.

Ake, signed from Championship outfit AFC Bournemouth, suffered a hamstring problem whilst on international duty with the Netherlands last week and Fernandinho is struggling with a stomach complaint.

“Except for Nathan and Fernandinho, the rest have started to come back," Guardiola added. "Fernandinho is not fit. He has a bit of gastroenteritis, something in his stomach."

As well as that, City are likely to be without Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko after a cluster of players from the Ukraine national team tested positive for Covid-19. Question marks also remain over the availability of Frenchman Benjamin Mendy, who has been restricted to just five appearances in all competitions so far this season.

With Guardiola facing a few issues, it could be hard to predict how City could line-up for the clash with Spurs.

Nevertheless, our sister title - the Manchester Evening News - has revealed how they believe City will line-up in north London, with the most likely line-up as follows:

Predicted starting line-up (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Foden; Torres, Jesus, Sterling.

Whilst Sterling has made the starting line-up, it has been predicted that Aguero, along with the likes of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, could make the bench.

Whilst Spurs will be targeting a fourth successive win, City will arrive in north London aiming to maintain their unbeaten away run in all competitions, with Leicester so far proving to be only the side that has beaten Guardiola's troops in the Premier League, Carabao Cup and Champions League this season.
