Manchester City players will say a big thank you to loyal fans by stumping up the cost of 26 coaches to the FA Cup final.
The Blues stars wanted to show their appreciation for the support which has followed City around the country – at huge expense given their runs to two cup finals and the Champions League quarter-finals.
And the club has backed the generous gesture by promising to lay on extra coaches, subject to demand.
Skipper Vincent Kompany explained why he players wanted to help.
“The support from our fans throughout the season has been nothing short of incredible,” he said.
“Travelling to so many games in league and cup competitions, both home and away, is not easy to do and is something that every player in our squad values and appreciates.
“Although last night’s result was not the one that we had hoped for, it was very special to hear our fans in full voice for 90 minutes backing the team.
“We still have so much to fight for this season, and this is our way of saying thank you to them for being with us every step of the way.”
