Man City players make Leroy Sane gesture ahead of Tottenham clash

Manchester City players showed their support for Leroy Sane ahead of the on Saturday evening by wearing shirts with his name on.

The Germany international has been ruled out for at least six months with anterior cruciate ligament damage to his right knee sustained in the Community Shield win against Liverpool at Wembley earlier this month.

The winger, who has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, is going to Innsbruck, Austria, for surgery this week and his teammates showed their support for the 23-year-old by warming up for their second league game of the season in shirts with his name on the back while he stood and watched on from the sidelines.

It's not the first time City have shown support for a teammate using the same gesture. In December 2016 the team wore Gundogan shirts when they lined up against Arsenal after he suffered a similar injury to Sane.

After the gesture for Gundogan was mocked online the midfielder jokingly tweeted that he had not died.
