Man City players have all said the same thing to Pep Guardiola in recent weeks

Pep Guardiola said that every Manchester City player is asking him to play every week.

Raheem Sterling has long been a mainstay in the team but has found himself on the bench for two of the last four games with the manager wanting more goals from the forward.

With standards being lifted as more players return from injury, Guardiola insisted that the England international does not need to change anything in order to return to the team.

"Absolutely nothing differently than he has done since we are together. He is an incredibly important player for us and the season is so long with so many games. His contribution for us this season was huge, has been, and will be in the future.

Asked if Sterling had sought him out seeking to play in every game possible, Guardiola replied: "Yes. And Nathan Ake. And [Aymeric] Laporte, and [Kyle] Walker and [Joao] Cancelo and Ruben [Dias] and Eric [Garcia] and Kevin De Bruyne and Ferran Torres and Gabriel Jesus and [Ilkay] Gundogan. Everyone.

"We speak with the players every single day. I am on the pitch with them so I talk with them a lot."

With all but Sergio Aguero fit, all of the academy players that have been training with the first team dropped down to the Under-23s for a Premier League 2 match with Brighton on Friday afternoon.
