Man City players give verdict on what improvements are needed

Manchester City players will return to training this week knowing the need to improve.

Rodri has spoken about how he has still to learn exactly what is required of him as he adjusts to a new team, with fellow signings Joao Cancelo and Angelino yet to get game time to help them get up to speed.

Even more established stars such as Bernardo Silva recognise that the Blues must drive standards up if they are to have another memorable season.

"It is early but you never want to drop points, obviously. We wanted to start on the right foot this Premier League so second game it is not good to drop two points," he said. "We need to keep working on our improvements on the way we play.

"If I remember well, two seasons ago we drew the second game, last season we drew the third against Wolves. We will come back stronger."

City went on to win their next 18 league games following their draw two years ago and ended last season with 14 straight league victories, so know they are capable of beating a string of opponents over a period of months.

And Kevin De Bruyne has seen enough from the team to think they should not be too worried about having already dropped points.

"Obviously we're disappointed about the result but not about the way we played," said the Belgian. "We played really well and deserved to win but it happens. We have to look forward. The way we played was really good and to get to this level so early in the season is good.

"We should have scored one more. We had enough opportunities to score. We didn't do it. That really doesn't bother me because to create them is even more difficult and I know on another day we can score more goals."
