Man City player Tosin Adarabioyo set to sign Blackburn Rovers loan deal

Tosin Adarabioyo is to go out on loan for a second successive season, joining Championship side Blackburn.

The towering 21-year-old centre back spent last season at West Brom, where he played 23 games – including 21 league starts - as the Baggies reached the play offs.

An announcement about his move to Ewood Park is expected imminently.

Adarabioyo has come through the Manchester City academy system after joining the club as a five-year-old – and he made his under-18 debut at the age of 14.

His first team debut came at the age of 18, when Manuel Pellegrini fielded a weakened team in a 5-1 FA Cup defeat at Chelsea in 2016, and he made his first Champions League appearance against Steaua Bucharest later that year.

Adarabioyo showed plenty of character after his loan at The Hawthorns got off to a poor start, and has been versatile enough to play at right back and right wing back as well as his natural position.

He settled to become one of their most consistent defenders, leading then manager Darren Moore to say: “The boy has a desire and a thirst for the game.

“He’s shown versatility, adaptability and an understanding of the game. He’s got a determination to go to the very highest level.

“We’re pleased to have him here and to be part of his development. He’s doing really well.”
