Man City player ratings for the season so far: Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling shine

Ederson – The keeper had his finest hour at Everton, a string of saves helping Manchester City earn the win. Steady as ever, with excellent feet. 7

Kyle Walker – Facing competition for his place, Walker has been his usual self, a vigorous attacker but with the odd defensive slip. 7

Joao Cancelo – Had to wait for a start and looked great in the opposition half until the errors against Wolves. 6

John Stones – Disrupted by injury, which also explains his poor display at Norwich. 6

Nicolas Otamendi – His individual error at Norwich and shocker against Wolves have cast serious questions over his suitability. 4

Aymeric Laporte – Began the season in his usual imperious fashion. His first error of judgment led to the injury which will keep him out for most of the campaign. 7

Fernandinho – Occasionally shows his lack of experience at centre back but his technical ability usually shines through. 7

Aleks Zinchenko – Continues to be a live option at left back, where he offers more control than Mendy. 6

Benjamin Mendy – Soon got back in the groove of roaring down the left and delivering balls into the box. More to come, though. 6

Rodri – Slotted in brilliantly considering he is in a foreign football culture, and playing a key position. Tweaks needed, but great signing. 8

Ilkay Gundogan – Often under-appreciated. At his best, he keeps the team ticking over, at worst he does not affect the game enough. 7

Kevin De Bruyne – Quite brilliant, almost back to his 2017/18 best at times. Quality crosses, beautiful passes, thunderous goals. 9

David Silva – Good start to his final season, but recently has lacked the game-changing quality which has marked his career. 7

Bernardo Silva – After a marvellous last time, he looks a little flat – but still better than most of the Premier League! 7

Phil Foden – Has been feeding off scraps but his late goal against Dinamo might launch him again. 6

Raheem Sterling – Nine goals in his first ten games tells its own tale. Rapidly establishing himself as world-class. 9

Gabriel Jesus – Four goals in his last four City starts, he has looked sharp when he gets a chance. Has clearly worked on his game. 7

Sergio Aguero – Seven goals in his first six games, but has gone a little flat recently. It won’t last. 8

Riyad Mahrez – Picked up where he left off last season, scoring goals and creating them. Has also been a joy to watch at times. 8
