Ederson: A very good save from Dias early on to prevent an own goal. Did not have a lot to do otherwise as City's line protected him. 7
Cancelo: Was in the right place at the right time to nudge the ball away from the goalline and then raced up to the right wing to help City take the lead inside a minute. 7
Dias: Unsettled early on by the pace of Brentford's attack and made a number of uncharacteristic errors as well as struggling to get the better of Toney. Improved in the second half. 6
Laporte: A much steadier performance than he managed against Leicester, keeping Wissa quiet and very good in the air. 7
Ake: In for Zinchenko and didn't disappoint, happily coming forward with the ball into the Brentford half and linking up with Foden and Bernardo. 7
Fernandinho: A terrific performance leading the team. Set the level of discipline for the rest, was alert to Brentford's main threats and also showed the creative side of his game. 8
Bernardo: Dropped back to help Fernandinho out so was less involved towards the opposition box. Full of running but industry prioritised over spark. 6
De Bruyne: Arguably, Bernardo didn't need to produce more creatively with De Bruyne giving another excellent display. The assist was class and he regularly troubled the Brentford keeper. 7
Jesus: He carved open some promising openings from the right wing, although was also guilty of wasting some promising positions. His touch let him down a few times where Mahrez perhaps would have thrived. 7
Foden: The matchwinner, and what a terrific finish it was. He also led the line well and switched effortlessly between positions. 8
Grealish: Back in the team but maybe not for long. He couldn't get any space playing as a No.9 and then struggled to make an impact when he switched to the left in the second half. 5
