Manchester City are in negotiations to add a Portuguese club to their CFG stable – just days after completing a deal to buy French outfit Troyes.
City have approached Theodore Fonesca, owner of Algarve-based Portimonense, about becoming the 11th club to join their portfolio.
Fonesca is in Abu Dhabi for talks about the proposed deal having already rejected a £35million offer for the club late last year.
He has since stated that he wants just over £133million to do business.
City are unlikely to meet that asking price.
But it is possible that their owners will look to take a minority stake in the club.
The City Football Group had already bought clubs in the United States, Australia, China, Japan, India, Spain, Uruguay and Belgium before sealing a deal for French Ligue 2 side Troyes.
They are also looking to make inroads into Brazil and Argentina.
Portimonense play in the Portuguese top flight. They looked set to be relegated last season, but were saved when Vitoria Setubal were demoted to the third division for financial irregularities.

Meanwhile, Nathan Ake is hoping to emulate his Holland team-mate Gini Wijnaldum after joining City this summer.
Ake woke up from a relegation nightmare with Bournemouth to realise a dream £41million move to become part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The Dutch centre-half hopes to use the experience in the same way his compatriot Wijnaldum became a Champions League and Premier League winner with Liverpool after suffering the big drop with Newcastle in 2016.
Ake said: “I was desperate to keep Bournemouth up – and we failed. We allowed too many goals against us and I was a defender in the team.

“Yet, apparently people judged my individual performances as all right. Maybe that is ability and experience, to make sure that you keep your own level up all the time.”
He added: “I have had to work incredibly hard to make it to the top – and I know I am ready."
