Man City organise third preseason friendly vs Blackpool

Manchester City have announced they will face Blackpool in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.

The Blues have managed to cram in another game against Championship opposition, after beating Preston on Tuesday, and facing Barnsley tonight.

The clash with the Seasiders, with a 6pm kick-off time, will again take place at the Academy Stadium behind closed doors, with City having scrapped plans to allow fans in to preseason matches.

City were originally due to fly to France to face sister club Troyes today but that had to be scrapped due to the worsening pandemic situation.

That left them with just one game before they were due to face Leicester at Wembley next Saturday, so they quickly arranged a clash with Barnsley for tonight, and now they will take on Blackpool as well.

With the bulk of the first-team squad due back on Monday, the extra game will give the Blues a chance to give some minutes to those players who were involved in the late stages of Euro 2020 and Copa America.
