Man City offer update on Sergio Aguero, Aymeric Laporte and Raheem Sterling for Brighton fixture

Manchester City will be without five players for the Premier League visit of Brighton, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

As expected, Sergio Aguero is still isolating after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, despite testing negative himself.

Aguero missed City's FA Cup win over Birmingham on Sunday, and Guardiola confirmed he is still missing for the Brighton game as he continues his period of quarantine.

The manager said: "Quarantine. [We will follow] the rules, when after nine or ten days he will be back."

Offering more team news, Guardiola confirmed Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are still injured, while Eric Garcia and Cole Palmer are still isolating after their own positive Covid tests.

He said: "Laporte is injured, Nathan is injured. Eric is solitary, Cole palmer is solitary. The rest maybe I forget someone but the rest are okay."

Scott Carson also tested positive in the same round of tests as Palmer, but Ederson is in line to return to the starting line up after three games out.

Guardiola confirmed that Raheem Sterling has no injury concern after being left out of the matchday squad against Birmingham completely, while Ferran Torres appears to be ready to play after returning from isolation but not being fit for Sunday's cup game.
