Man City name 26-man squad for pre-season tour of China, Hong Kong and Japan

Manchester City have included 12 academy graduates in their 26-man squad for a pre-season tour of the Far East.

Pep Guardiola's side are due to fly out to China tonight (Saturday) and with several first team players still not back from international duty it's a youthful looking tour squad.

New signing Rodri is amongst the travelling squad, as is Angelino who has returned to the club this summer after City activated his buy-back clause with PSV Eindhoven.

Ederson, Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero are all absent having only finished Copa America duty last week, while Riyad Mahrez is still representing Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Daniel Grimshaw and Gavin Bazunu travel as back-up to Claudio Bravo in goal, while the highly-rated local youngsters Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and Ben Knight also travel.

City begin their pre-season campaign with a fixture against West Ham United in Nanjing in the Premier League Asia Trophy on Wednesday, before playing either Wolves or Newcastle United in the play-off game or final in Shanghai on Saturday.

After that Guardiola's squad move to Hong Kong, where they will be joined by Phil Foden, who is currently on holiday after his exploits with England Under-21s. City face Kitchee during their stay in Hong Kong and finish the tour with a game against Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan on July 27.
