Man City morning headlines as transfer battle 'emerges' for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar

Season tickets suspended at City for next season

Amid the continuing uncertainty over when supporters will be allowed to return to stadiums, Manchester City have suspended season tickets for the 2020/21 season.

Anyone who had a ticket in the 2019/20 campaign, will not be asked for any money up front towards next season, and will be contacted about a renewal when the decision is made to bring the tickets back in.

City explained in a statement : “We understand some supporters may not wish to, or be able, return to the stadium immediately, or during any time during the 20/21 season.

“If this is the case, you do not need to contact the club and we will consider your seasonal membership ‘deferred’.”

City ready to compete with Arsenal for Aouar’s signature - report

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has repeatedly been linked with City since he impressed manager Pep Guardiola in the 2018/19 Champions League group stages.

He also played brilliantly against City in the French side’s shock victory in this season’s quarter-finals, providing two assists in the 3-1 win.

And now the much-coveted youngster is the subject of an approach from City, according to ESPN .

It has been reported that Aouar has been told he can leave Lyon this summer, but that City will face a battle with Arsenal to sign the 22-year-old, whose contract runs until 2023.

Title-winning City youngsters receive medals

City held a socially-distanced trophy presentation on Friday at their training ground to recognise their academy success.

Their under-18s won the Premier League North after it was decided the final standings would be decided on a points-per-game basis following the season’s suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Gareth Taylor’s side also won the under-18 Premier League Cup for the second successive year shortly before football came to a halt.
