Here are your Manchester City morning headlines for November 20.
Txiki Begiristain makes Pep Guardiola prediction
Pep Guardiola's 'addictive' approach and winning style was enough to convince Manchester City to agree a new two-year contract for the manager.
That is according to City's director of football Txiki Begiristain, who predicted that the future is bright with Guardiola at the helm until 2023.
Speaking after the club and Guardiola agreed a two-year extension, Begiristain explained how Guardiola exceeded all expectations the club had after arriving in the Premier League in 2016.
“Pep took us – the club – to the top level, the maximum you can get,” Begiristain said.
What City can do to maximise Torres impact
Ferran Torres grabbed the headlines during the international break with a remarkable hat-trick in Spain’s 6-0 thumping of Germany.
As argued by the MEN , despite the former Valencia winger netting four goals for City to date this season, there is still plenty of room in which he can improve.
Starting on the right-wing role in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Torres received the ball 24 times against Germany and 30 occasions against Switzerland a few days earlier, while the most he has received it in a City start is 13 times.
Furthermore, the Spaniard received the ball 10 times inside the penalty area against Die Mannschaft but has not been passed to inside the area on more than five occasions for City since the EFL Cup win at Burnley.
It is clear that City need to find the winger more often in possession and also encourage him to get higher up the pitch and into the opposition penalty area.
Keane makes Foden comparison
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has compared City midfielder Phil Foden to his former teammate Paul Scholes.
Keane was speaking after Foden netted twice in England’s 4-0 win over Iceland this week, and praised the player’s football intelligence and drew the similarity to Scholes.
"I love this first goal, we're talking about making runs in the box right at the end, a bit like Paul Scholes used to do. Sometimes it's about standing still and that's football intelligence," Keane told ITV.
"He's 20 years of age. Excellent performance. He made a mistake a couple of months ago. He'll be delighted with that. He's a great prospect."
