Man City morning headlines as Ferran Torres 'fee agreed' and Bayern boss moans about UEFA ban

Here are the Manchester City morning headlines for Tuesday, July 28.

Fee 'agreed'

Reports suggest Manchester City’s pursuit of Ferran Torres is set to end in success. The Valencia winger is poised to leave the Mestalla this summer, and has just one year left on his contract.

Now it appears that City and Valencia have reached an agreement on a fee of between €30m and €40m for the winger. That’s according to GoalEspana, who claim the fee is variable depending on add-ons and bonuses.

There’s also a suggestion the deal could be announced this week, although the UK version of Goal insists there is no agreement yet.

Blame game

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes City were exonerated by the Court of Arbitration for Sport over their supposed financial misdeeds because of a lack of proper organisation by UEFA.

A two-year European ban for City, imposed by UEFA, was overturned by CAS, and Rummenigge says the European body didn’t do a good enough job to ensure their case was watertight.

"I believe the final decision made by CAS was an outcome because the UEFA panel responsible for Champions League matters didn’t do a great job,” he told the Associated Press news agency.

“What I heard from different sources is that it was not good organised in advance.”

City exit?

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru looks to be on the brink of leaving Manchester City. The 19-year-old has had a medical at Sheffield Wednesday and personal terms have been agreed, according to Yorkshire Live, with Dele-Bashiru ready to sign a three-year deal.

The midfielder has been at City since the age of eight and could now be Owls boss Garry Monk’s first signing of the summer.

Dele-Bashiru was born in Germany and played in the UEFA Youth League this term for City’s under-19s - scoring against Shakhtar - as well as in the Premier League 2 for the under-23s.
