Here are the Manchester City morning headlines for Tuesday, August 11.
City confirm squad for remaining Champions League rounds
Manchester City have confirmed their 27-man squad for the remaining knockout rounds of the Champions League, with Pep Guardiola’s side arriving in Lisbon this week.
Victory over Real Madrid in last week’s last 16 second leg set up a quarter-final tie against Lyon, with Guardiola and his players now among the final eight in this season’s abridged Champions League.
Sergio Aguero has been included in the 27-man squad, but hasn’t made the trip to Portugal as he continues to recover from a knee injury which required surgery. It’s hoped he could still feature in the semi-finals and final should City get there.
Eric Garcia has been included despite speculation around his future at the Etihad Stadium, while teenagers Gavin Bazunu, Tommy Doyle, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Cole Palmer, Adrian Bernabe, and Felix Nmecha all in the squad too.
Harrison rejoins Leeds on loan from City
Jack Harrison has rejoined Leeds United on loan for the 2020/21 season after enjoying a successful spell at Elland Road last season.
Harrison has spent the last two campaigns on loan at Leeds, making 91 appearances in total as he has excelled under the stewardship of Marcelo Bielsa, playing in every game of the club’s Championship-winning season.
Leeds confirmed on Monday that Harrison had signed for a third spell at Elland Road and the loan spell could be made permanent next summer with the winger’s City contract set to expire in the summer of 2022.
City 'could reignite interest' in Lyon playmaker - report
Houssem Aouar could still be a target for City this summer, even though the Etihad Stadium club is prioritising the signing of another centre-back.
The Lyon playmaker has been previously linked with a move to City, but interest had seemingly cooled as the Premier League club recognised the need to strengthen at the back after the signing of Ferran Torres from Valencia.
MEN Sport understands City want to add another central defender to their squad even after last week’s signing of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, but Aouar could still be a target.
David Silva’s exit from the club at the end of the season will leave a space in Guardiola’s squad and Aouar is a player City have retained an interest in, according to L’Equipe (via GFFN ).
