Man City morning headlines as Bayern warned off Leroy Sane transfer

Sane not suited to Bayern - Sagnol

Manchester City's Leroy Sane would not be the right signing for Bayern Munich, according to one of their former players.

Ex-Bayern defender and one-time interim manager Willy Sagnol scoffed at the idea that Sane would be a fine acquisition for the club.

“He’s someone whose form is very inconsistent and who is very withdrawn,” he told TV station RMC. “For me, he doesn’t suit the club at all. He’s had a lot of problems at Manchester City and with the national team.

“We’re talking about a cost of €80million. In that case, I would prefer to put another €20million down and sign Kai Havertz.”

City chase Chukwueze - report

City will reportedly have to fend off the interest of several other clubs if they are to secure the signing of Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze.

It is still unclear whether or not Sane will stay at the Etihad with one year left on his contract - and if he doesn't, Chukwueze is said to be an ideal replacement.

But AS are reporting that there are other Premier League clubs interested in the 21-year-old as well - including Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

A tough pre-season in store for City

City could have just two weeks of pre-season preparation before the start of the 2020/21 campaign, according to the Daily Star.

If they reach the Champions League final, pencilled in for the end of August, they will then have only a fortnight before the planned kick-off of the new Premier League season on September 12.

City are in a strong position to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Real Madrid in their last-16 first leg at the Bernabeu.
