Man City 'monitoring' Chelsea defender and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are ready to rival Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the battle to sign Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.

That is according to a report by the Daily Star who claim that the Danish international is attracting interest from several clubs, both in England and from across Europe.

Christensen, who will celebrate his 26th birthday in April, is out-of-contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the west London club.

The Denmark international, who has made 17 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions so far this season, has seen his career at Stamford Bridge resurrected since Thomas Tuchel took charge back in January, with him having become a key figure in his plans.

Despite that, he has not yet committed his future to the club, meaning it is possible that he could leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Non-English clubs will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the 25-year-old from January, but the likes of City and Tottenham will be forced to wait until the summer.

The report claims that Tottenham are the latest club to have joined the queue for Christensen's signature, but City and United are keeping a very close eye on the developments that may unfold.

Elsewhere, Juventus are 'keeping an eye' on City striker Gabriel Jesus, a report by Calciomercato.it claims.

The Brazil international, who has had to adapt to a newly-found right-wing role this season, is under consideration by the Italian giants as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

It is claimed that they want to overhaul their offensive department and add fresh blood to it, with Jesus emerging as one of their most fancied targets.

To make matters even more interesting, Juventus are maintaining the stance that Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is also continuing to be heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, remains their top target, meaning their decisions in the transfer market could have a major impact on the Blues.

It is reported that Jesus is worth around €50million, whilst City are said to be plotting an €85million swoop for Vlahovic.

Jesus has racked up 214 appearances during his City career, scoring 87 goals, five of which have come this season.
