Man City misery, Van Dijk mistake and things you may have missed at FIFA Football Awards

The Best FIFA Awards took place in Milan last night with Liverpool enjoying a night to celebrate their Champions League victory in June.

Jurgen Klopp came out on top in the best men's coach category with Alisson taking home with the Best Men's goalkeeper.

The Brazilian stopper and Virgil van Djik were named in the Fifa Fifpro Men's Team of the Year although Messi saw off competition from van Djik to win Best Men's Player.

However it was still a night for the Reds - here's what you might have missed.

Van Dijk camera mistake

Reds fans were hoping that Van Dijk would complete a brilliant evening for the club with the Best Men's Player award.

And it seems that the camera operators at the event did as well.

As Messi was named as the winner, the camera cut to Van Dijk, clearly expecting his name to be announced.

Instead it was the Barcelona legend who added yet another award to his mantlepiece.

Messi votes for Mane

It was revealed afterwards that Lionel Messi voted for Sadio Mane as the best player in the world ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Virgil van Dijk wasn't included in Messi top three with Frenkie de Jong making up the selection.

It seems that the Argentinean genius was impressed with the Reds striker during that incredible Champions League tie last season.

Alisson nowhere to be seen

The Liverpool goalkeeper was named best goalkeeper of the year after his remarkable first season between the sticks at Anfield.

After his name was read out, there was an awkward moment where Allison appeared to get lost on his way to the stage.

Klopp and former England manager Fabio Capello were left looking around the room as he failed to emerge with the Reds boss cracking a huge smile.

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit, one of the presenters, said: 'Hello, where is Allison Becker? Where is Becker? Are you hiding?

Eventually he did take the stage, explaining: "Sorry, it's not my fault."

No awards for Man City

They may have finished last season with the Premier League title as part of a domestic treble, but Man City missed out at the awards ceremony.

Eight players had been shortlisted for the World11 butRaheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva didn't feature.

While Pep Guardiola lost out to Klopp and Ederson was pipped by Allison in the goalkeeper award.
