Welcome to our Manchester City daily round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.
Fernandinho opens up on Cristiano Ronaldo to Man City
Even though Cristiano Ronaldo ended up in the red half of Manchester at the end of the summer transfer window, the Portuguese forward was incredibly close to joining Man City.
ESPN Brazil interviewed Fernandinho on the Ronaldo situation that occurred between the two Manchester clubs in the summer and how close Ronaldo was to joining City.
“I think there was a chance, yes, good, considerable. I think there were even a few conversations,” said Fernandinho.
“Also because his agent was here at the club renewing Ederson’s contract, Ruben Dias’ contract, seeing the situation of Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo as well. So obviously if you’re there at the table, you can talk about everything and every possible player.”
“But I think that a lot of expectations were also raised with the possibility of him coming here. Without a doubt, this ends up affecting not only the fans but affected also the people inside the club. But in the end, things didn’t work out, he didn’t close the deal, and ended up going to the red side of town then. Life goes on.”
Ronaldo ended up joining Manchester United for a reported fee of £12.86 million.
Juventus in for Jesus
Calciomercato have reported that Juventus are considering a move for Gabriel Jesus.
The report suggests that Manchester City will be willing to sell the 24-year-old Brazillian forward in favour for another striker.
But, he could face competition from Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski who could be looking to move away from the Allianz Arena.
Kane open to Tottenham contract
Harry Kane is reported to be open to signing another deal with Tottenham Hotspurs if the club adds a release clause to it.
According to Eurosport chairman, Daniel Levy does not like the principle of release clauses, but Kane wants clarity for the future to allow clubs to be aware of the fee they need to trigger for any transfer bids.
Manchester City were linked with the England captain, but are unlikely to pursue the 28-year-old again next summer, per the report.
City linked to Mikel Oyarzabal
It’s been reported that City are interested in Real Sociedad winger, Mikel Oyarzabal - with insiders credited to be convinced that the player is a key target for the summer.
Oyarzabal has scored four goals in four games and his progress continued to be considered at City - who will have to meet a release clause worth around £67milion for the player.
