Man City midfielder Fernandinho reveals what catching Liverpool FC now depends on

Fernandinho believes that Man City can still catch Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Following the unparalleled success City enjoyed with their treble triumph in May, they have crashed back down to Earth this season and have dropped 16 points after 16 games.

It's put Liverpool in the ascendancy to win their first ever Premier League crown and they have already built up a massive 17 point lead, although City could shorten it with a win against Arsenal on Sunday.

Yet the Reds have had massive leads and squandered them before, like last season for instance, and Fernandinho hasn't given up hope that City can retain the title.

"I still believe we can chase Liverpool," the Brazilian told Sky Sports.

"It depends on how we react in our games, everything can change it depends on some results and how we react to that. That's why I say I am a believer and will always be a believer because in football many things can happen."

If City are to close the gap then they need to start acting fast and Fernandinho thinks that the next two fixtures, against the Gunners and Leicester City, are vitally important.

"They are crucial, really crucial, the target is six points in those two games," he added.

"That's why I have to concentrate the way you have to play, the decisions you have to make on the pitch should be more clinical in front of the goal and how are we going to defend ourselves.

"This is going to make the difference and I think, I hope, we can prepare well, be 100 per cent concentrated and to get three points from those two games."
