Man City 'meet Joao Felix agent ahead of summer transfer move' and more rumours

Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain has reportedly met with Jorge Mendes - agent of Benfica youngster Joao Felix - to explore a possible summer transfer.

Begiristain is said to have travelled to Lisbon last week to watch Felix in action in Benfica's Europa League semi-final with Eintract Frankfurt where he scored a first-leg hat-trick. He was also thought to be impressed with Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic, who has 25 goals this season.

Now, Goal say Begiristain has met with Mendes to determine where City would stand if they were to approach Benfica for Felix, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Juventus.

The report claims City have a good working relationship with Mendes, and have previously saved money on transfers by allowing him to arrange his players currently at City to move clubs.

That could apply to Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala, who are open to moves away from the Etihad, according to the report.

However, if City want to sign Felix, they are reluctant to pay his £103m release clause, the report adds.

Meanwhile, City are looking to give John Stones a new contract, a report claims.

The Mirror say City will offer the England international an improved £180,000-per-week deal, even though he has three years left on his current contract.

Stones has started just two of the last seven games, and did not come off the bench in either of City's Champions League quarter-final games with Tottenham.

But City still see Stones as the future of their defence, with Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany nearing the end of their careers.
