Man City manager Pep Guardiola sent goalkeeper message ahead of Liverpool FC fixture

Man City fans believe that Pep Guardiola should risk goalkeeper Ederson against Liverpool on Sunday even if he isn't fully fit, such is the magnitude of the game.

City face off against the league leaders in what is sure to be a blockbuster encounter which could shape the rest of the Premier League season.

The Blues need a victory to claw back the gap that Liverpool have earned so far and a loss would mean it would grow to a massive nine points with a third of the season already done.

It was always going to be a hard task as City haven't won at Anfield in the league since 2003 but it has been made even tougher with their ever growing injury list.

They were already going to be without captain David Silva, Rodri, Aleks Zinchenko, Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane for the game but now might be without Ederson as well.

The Brazilian had to be substituted at half-time in the 1-1 draw with Atalanta on Wednesday after picking up a problem in his thigh.

His replacement, Claudio Bravo, didn't exactly inspire confidence as his first touch was picking the ball out of the net and he later was shown a red card for upending an attacker as he went though on goal.

It meant that Kyle Walker had to go in goal for the rest of the game and it has left Guardiola with another headache if Ederson can't make the game.

MEN Sport asked City fans: "Should Ederson be risked against Liverpool even if he isn't fully fit?"

A majority of 63 per cent of the 1,086 voters believe that Ederson needs to be risked even if he isn't at full fitness, as City need their first choice goalkeeper for such an important game.

20 per cent of fans jokingly voted for Walker to get the nod after his 100 per cent save percentage in Milan.

In third place was Claduio Bravo playing in goal, as other fans believe that Ederson shouldn't be risked for one game and end up spending longer on the sidelines.

And in last place with just 5 per cent of the vote was former Liverpool man Scott Carson.
