Man City manager Pep Guardiola praised by Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has hailed Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as his favourite manager, insisting that the Spaniard is the "best coach" a player of his type can wish for.

Coman joined Bayern, who won three consecutive Bundesliga titles under Guardiola's leadership between 2013 and 2016, on loan when Guardiola was in charge back in August 2015 and he made the deal permanent almost two years later, signing for a fee north of £20m.

Despite working with some of the biggest names European football management has had to offer in recent years, including Carlo Ancelotti, Jupp Heynckes and Massimiliano Allegri, it is Guardiola that stands out above the rest for the Frenchman.

“I would say Guardiola [was my best coach] because he is the one who made me start playing a little more regularly even if I had played a few matches at Juventus,” Coman told Eurosport.

“For a player in my position, a winger who likes to hit and provoke, he is the best coach we can have because that is what demands us the most.

“He creates systems to have one-on-one situations and it’s the system where I can flourish the most. He didn’t ask me to have stats. He just wanted me to take, hit and centre. And that was what I appreciated very much.”
