Man City make history as FA Cup Final win seals first men's domestic treble

Manchester City made history on Saturday after becoming the first men's team to win the domestic treble in England.

Pep Guardiola's side beat Watford 6-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley to lift their third competitive trophy of the campaign following on from the successful defence of their Premier League title last week and their League Cup triumph back in February.

In doing so City, who also won the Community Shield at the very beginning of the season, became the first men's team in England to secure all three domestic titles in a single season.

It is a feat that was first previously achieved by Arsenal Women in 1993 before the team went on to repeat it a further three times.

City held off a spirited Watford side at Wembley before David Silva opened the scoring in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Gabriel Jesus then scored two goals, either side of substitute Kevin De Bruyne's 61st-minute strike, before Raheem Sterling added another two late on for City to secure a 6-0 victory over Watford, who were appearing in their first FA Cup final since 1984.

The result caps off a remarkable season for Guardiola and his team despite the disappointment at being knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham at the quarter-final hurdle.
