Man City linked with shock move for Chelsea star as rivals for Erling Haaland's signature emerge

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.

City have been linked with a move for one of Chelsea's top performers who has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Pep Guardiola's pursuit of Erling Haaland has dominated the back pages of late and it seems he faces stiff competition from two of Spanish football's giants.

And finally, City have been credited with an interest in a young Brazilian left-back as Guardiola looks to strengthen his options in defence.

Chelsea star City bound?

Chelsea were tipped to rival City for the Premier League crown at the start of the season but they currently sit 10 points behind Guardiola's men.

The gap between the two sides would likely be even greater were it not for the standout performances of Antonio Rudiger, and Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that City are monitoring the German defender.

It's understood that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Rudiger, whose contract expires in the summer and so will leave on a free transfer should he fail to pen fresh terms.

Our view: There's no easy way to put this, but City do not need to sign Rudiger.

Guardiola already has some top centre-backs at his disposal with some talented youngsters waiting in the wings should the chance present itself. I can't see this one happening.

Haaland pursuit continues

Haaland has attracted interest from pretty much every elite club in Europe, though it was recently reported that City are favourites to secure his services.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keen to sign the talented youngster, and TeamTalk now report that contact has been made with his agent Mino Raiola by one of Europe's top clubs.

Our view: It's pretty evident that whoever signs Haaland is getting themselves a world-class player who could lead the line for the next 15 years.

It's not really City's style to enter into a bidding war and the Harry Kane saga last summer proved Guardiola won't just bow to a club's demands in order to sign his preferred target.

Playing for City has got to be one of the most attractive propositions for any young player and so hopefully Guardiola won't have to work too hard to convince Haaland to move to City.

Pep on the hunt for a full-back?

Fernandinho has enjoyed a stellar City career having been signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013.

Prior to his move to Ukraine, Fernandinho spent the early years of his career at Athletico Paranaense and it seems City are keen to see what other talents the Brazilian club have been producing.

The Telegraph claim that City are monitoring 21-year-old left-back Abner Vinicius as Guardiola looks to bolster his options at full-back.

Our view : There's no doubting that left-back has been something of a problem area for Guardiola since taking over at City, but with Joao Cancelo now arguably the best left-back in Europe and Oleksandr Zinchenko there to provide cover, you wonder why he actually needs any more options?

Anyway, I trust whatever decision Pep makes.
