Man City linked with €40m midfielder who is learning from Jude Bellingham

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga along with Chelsea and Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola's side have already snapped up Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, while pulling out of a move for West Ham United star Declan Rice - who looks set for Arsenal. Despite the addition of Kovacic, though, Guardiola is claimed to be keen on signing the versatile Veiga.

The player, who is able to operate as both a number six and eight, is said to have a €40m (£34.6m) release clause in his contract with the Spanish side. In the most recent campaign, Veiga scored 11 goals and assisted four in his 36 La Liga appearances. Celta Vigo has been the only club of his career to date.

There has been plenty of speculation around Veiga and a potential move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Newcastle also mentioned as potential suitors. The Spain Under-21 international, though, was not overly interested in addressing his future earlier this month - instead underlining his focus to enjoy success with his country this summer at the European Championship.

“I’m not here to talk about my future, only my present," he said. "I don’t think about my future, I want to live in the present and the national team. What I want for my future is to be in the European Championship, because there is still the final list. And then to win it. I am here in the national team, in a very nice challenge."

And when asked about his valuation, in light of Jude Bellingham's big money move to Real Madrid, Veiga said: "I can’t answer that question. Each player is worth what they pay. What I can say is that Bellingham is one of the best midfielders in the world and I learn a lot from him."
