Man City 'lining up' £85million bid for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to move for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol should any defenders depart the Etihad this summer.

The Croatian centre-back was one of the breakout stars of the winter World Cup in Qatar - raising speculation that a number of European heavyweights could swoop for him in the transfer window.

City currently have plenty of options at centreback, although the fierce competition for a place in Pep Guardiola's first-team could lead to players seeking pastures new at the end of the season.

And now, The Daily Mail reports that should a defensive space open up within the City squad, Gvardiol is 'of interest' if the club 'need to strengthen in that area'.

City currently have the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Aymeric Laporte vying for a starting berth, with the latter reportedly considering his future at the Premier League club.

But City could face competition for Gvardiol's signature, with Chelsea and Real Madrid having also been linked to the defender in recent months.

Elsewhere, Football Insider claims that West Ham could 'swoop for' Manchester City youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis this summer.

The defender has spent the season on loan at Championship winners Burnley, making 35 appearances across all competitions for the Clarets.

Harwood-Bellis has just one year left on his contract with City, meaning he could be sold rather than being allowed to leave for nothing in a year's time.

The report adds that City are 'still weighing up the youngster’s future', with Newcastle and Fulham also interested in signing him should the Blues decide to sell up in the transfer window.
