Pep Guardiola has named midfielders Rodri and Fernandinho as his centre-back pairing against Crystal Palace with Manchester City short of defensive options.
The two holding midfielders will form an experimental partnership at the heart of Guardiola's defence, with John Stones on the bench as the England international works back to full fitness after a run of injuries.
Sergio Aguero is also among the substitutes following a minor car crash earlier this week, meaning Gabriel Jesus leads the line with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva in support.
Kevin De Bruyne also returns from injury in a midfield three alongside Ilkay Gundogan and avid Silva, while Joao Calcelo and Benjamin Mendy line up at full-back with Ederson in goal.
