Man City line up vs Southampton includes Ferran Torres and John Stones but no Gabriel Jesus

Manchester City have recalled John Stones and Ferran Torres to the starting line-up for the Premier League fixture at Southampton, but Gabriel Jesus is missing completely.

City go into this game on the back of two draws which have highlighted their goalscoring troubles once again this season. To try and combat their misfiring attack, Pep Guardiola has named a forward line of Ferran Torres, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva.

Sergio Aguero returned against West Brom on Tuesday but subsequently missed two days of training. Guardiola confirmed Aguero made it through Friday's training session, and he makes the bench at St Mary's.

However, there is no sign of Jesus, who has looked tired in recent games, with youngster Felix Nmecha also on the bench.

In defence, Guardiola has recalled John Stones after resting the Englishman against West Brom, with Ruben Dias his partner.

The fullbacks are the returning Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo, who moves over to the left.

Ahead of them, Rodri starts once again with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan ahead of him.

With the Premier League this week expanding the number of players allowed to be named on the bench, there is room for Nmecha, Aguero, Benjamin Mendy, Phil Foden and the returning Aleks Zinchenko among the substitutes. However, Aymeric Laporte was also missing from the squad.

Man City starting XI vs Southampton: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne (C), Bernardo, Torres, Sterling.

Substitutes: Carson, Ake, Aguero, Zinchenko, Mendy, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Foden, Nmecha.
