Man City line up vs Atalanta in Champions League includes Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho

Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho start for Manchester City against Atalanta in the Champions League.

Guardiola insisted before the match he would name a full strength side, despite the crucial Premier League showdown at Liverpool on Sunday.

And he was true to his word, naming a strong XI looking to get the three points that will secure a place in the last-16.

After Ederson in goal, Joao Cancelo has replaced Kyle Walker at right back with Benjamin Mendy coming back on the left. John Stones has been overlooked as Nicolas Otamendi and Fernandinho start in central defence.

That means another start for Ilkay Gundogan in holding midfield, behind Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.

Riyad Mahrez returns on the right opposite Raheem Sterling as Gabriel Jesus is named up front.

That resulted in a strong bench with Kyle Walker, John Stones and Sergio Aguero, with youngsters Eric Garcia and Tommy Doyle also in the matchday squad.

Man City starting XI vs Atalanta:  Ederson, Cancelo, Fernandinho (C), Otamendi, Mendy, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Mahrez, Sterling, G Jesus.

Substitutes: Bravo, Walker, Stones, Aguero, Angelino, E Garcia, Doyle.
