Man City legend Yaya Toure training with League Two side Leyton Orient

Man City legend Yaya Toure has been training with League Two side Leyton Orient.

The 37-year-old midfielder was pictured in the club's training top in images shared on social media on Friday.

"Who have we got here then?" Orient's official Twitter account said in a post. "It's only three-time Premier League, Champions League, La Liga and African Cup of Nations winner Yaya Touré.

"There he is look, in his Leyton Orient top at training this morning."

They did not give a reason for Toure's frankly bizarre appearance at their training ground, but it seems the veteran is looking to keep on top of his fitness.

Toure is believed to be a free agent having last been on the books of Chinese Super League outfit Qingdao Huanghai, whom he is thought to have parted company with in January.

His last performance for Huanghai in November saw him sent off after just 10 seconds.

Prior to joining them last July, he had a brief spell with Greek side Olympiakos.

Whether his presence at Orient suggests he could be set for a comeback in England remains to be seen.

Toure's brother, Kolo, is currently a coach at Leicester City, though it is highly unlikely he will be joining him at the King Power Stadium.

Orient fans were clearly buoyed by the images, with one even hopeful of seeing Toure plying his trade at Brisbane Road.

"Is it too late to get Toure on the back of the pre-order shirt?" the fan wrote on Twitter.

However it seems Toure has plans further afield once coronavirus restrictions are reduced.

According to The Mail, Toure is based in London and intends to move back abroad in search of a new club in due course.

In the meantime he is merely using Orient's training ground in Chigwell to stay in shape after his agent contacted the club to ask permission.

Which is probably just as well for The O's - who finished 17th in League Two this season - as Toure was reportedly on £36million-a-year over in China.

Probably just slightly out of Orient's budget.
