Former Manchester City ace Shaun Goater believes that Vincent Kompany will not leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The 33-year-old defender lifted the Premier League title for the second season in a row yesterday but sees his contract expire at the end of the season, although Pep Guardiola has stated talks are ongoing.
Kompany has played a key role in the final weeks of the Premier League campaign, scoring a stunning goal in the victory over Leicester City, but question marks remain over his future.
However, Goater believes that the Belgium international will not be going anywhere this summer and will extend his stint at the Etihad Stadium.
Former referee pinpoints the mistake that turned title race from Liverpool FC to Man City's favour
"He is a leader, representing the club both home and abroad the right way and I would be amazed if he isn't a player at the club next season," Goater told Sky Sports.
"He still has the ability to play a number of games and we all know he won't let anyone down if he is given another year or two."
Kompany has spent over a decade at City, making over 250 Premier League appearances and lifting four league titles with the club.
