Man City ‘lead the race' for star striker as Ferran Torres drops latest hint on his future

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.

The Blues appear to still be in the hunt for a new striker and Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic is seemingly very high up on Pep Guardiola’s wish list.

After sadly retiring from football for health reasons, reports suggest Sergio Aguero may be offered a role back with his former club - something that would surely delight fans.

And finally, City forward Ferran Torres might have dropped a hint that his desired move to Barcelona is edging closer.

Who Du you think you are?

With only Robert Lewandowski outscoring him in 2021 across Europe's top five leagues, Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most sought-after players in European football.

Vlahovic recently rejected the most lucrative contract offer in the Italian side’s history, forcing the club to consider cashing in on their most prized assets.

La Repubblica - via Sports Mole - have reported that, out of all the clubs interested in the Serbian, it is City who are at the top of the pile.

Many clubs, such as Manchester United and Juventus, are purportedly keen on Vlahovic and the 21-year-old appears destined for huge things.

A versatile, hard-working goal machine, he appears to fit a lot of the criteria Guardiola lays out for his frontmen. Let's not forget, though, he would have almost impossible shoes to fill...

The door is open for Sergio

Last week brought a sad day, not just for City fans but the footballing world in general.

The great Sergio Aguero called an end to his playing career, a heart condition denying him a glorious final chapter at Barcelona.

But the Argentinian may be back in the beautiful game quicker than expected.

Ole has claimed Aguero may be offered a job by City as a global ambassador, joining the likes of Mike Summerbee, Shaun Wright-Phillips and his old team-mate Micah Richards in taking such a post with the club.

Whether or not it is in an official capacity, the day Sergio returns to the Etihad Stadium is one none of us can wait for. There won't be a dry eye in the house.

Torres social media hint

After being linked with a move away from City over the past few weeks, Ferran has dropped a very 21st-century hint that his move to Barcelona is picking up.

Following Barca’s 3-2 victory against Elche, Torres’ former City and current Spain teammate Eric Garcia took to social media to celebrate the win.

In an Instagram post, Garcia wrote: “Victory at home with the help of you, fans! Go Barca!”

Torres commented on the post with two emojis - applause and a star.

For more old-school football fans this may seem like a load of nonsense, but in the world of social media this can be interpreted as a huge sign of his future intentions. If you don't believe me, just ask the 7,200 people that liked Torres’ comment!

Torres is a top talent but City have proved they can function without him during his ongoing injury absence. If an opportunity arises to make a huge profit on the forward, it seems a no brainer.
