Man City issue statement on Champions League final tickets and travel for supporters

Manchester City have moved quickly to update supporters on their plans for the Champions League final after victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.

City were leading 2-1 from the first leg and were superb in the second leg to run out 2-0 winners on the night to seal a 4-1 aggregate win over last season's finalists.

Now, as City's hunt for a treble continues, they will play Chelsea or Real Madrid in the final in Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium on May 29.

Naturally, after a season of games behind closed doors, fans will be keen to support their club in their biggest ever game in Europe, and the club say they will open talks immediately to clarify the situation.

Whether City fans can attend will depend on UK Government travel regulations as the roadmap out of Covid-19 restrictions is set to allow some international travel from May 17. UEFA will also have to decide any ticket allocations while Turkish authorities will also be involved.

A City statement read: "In preparation for the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul on Saturday 29th May, the Club will now enter discussions with UEFA and other stakeholders regarding ticketing and travel arrangements.

"Whilst details relating to international leisure travel have not been confirmed by the UK Government at this time, we expect that guidance will be published in Step 3 of the roadmap, which is due to come into effect on 17 th May.

"We will provide further information to supporters as soon as we are able to do so."

City will discover their final opponents on Wednesday night, with Chelsea hosting Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. The scores are level at 1-1, with Chelsea holding an important away goal.
