Man City issue injury update on three players ahead of Manchester United derby

Ilkay Gundogan is set to be fit for Manchester City's trip to Old Trafford, but the Blues will be without Eric Garcia.

Both players limped out of the Champions League victory against Marseille on Wednesday night and while Gundogan has trained ahead of the derby, Garcia faces a longer spell on the sidelines.

Gundogan felt soreness on his ankle against the Ligue 1 side and came off at half-time, but Garcia was forced off in the first half and he won't be fit to face Manchester United.

"Eric is not fit, he was injured and it will be two or three weeks out. Ilkay trained good," said Guardiola.

Gundogan could start his third game in a week having trained ahead of the derby, but Guardiola confirmed that Sergio Aguero would not start.

The striker made his return from injury with a cameo against Marseille and got himself on the scoresheet, but having suffered from a couple of different injuries this term he won't be rushed back.

Saturday's game will be the first Manchester derby to be held without supporters and Guardiola is going to miss them.

"Of course it is much better, being at Old Trafford and the stadium is much better playing with fans but the virus is still here," he said.

"When we open the stadiums step by step as has already happened in some areas of England, the Premier League and government and scientists will decide when we can make the next step and when everything is settled the fans will be back."
