Man City injury updates on Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne took full part in an 11 versus 11 training match as Manchester City sharpened up following the Arsenal postponement.

But there was no sign of Aymeric Laporte or John Stones , with Taylor Harwood-Bellis drafted in to fill the gap, along with Eric Garcia.

City had geared their training towards Wednesday night’s re-scheduled Premier League clash with the Gunners, which was called off less than 24 hours before kick off.

Arsenal players had been told to self-isolate as a precaution after coming into contact with Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis following a Europa League game a fortnight ago.

So City staged an 11-a-side game in training instead – and gave a glimpse of where they are up to in terms of injury absentees.

The good news was that De Bruyne, who missed the Manchester derby defeat after picking up a shoulder injury, took part in the game.

And Sane, who returned to training over a month ago after six months out with knee ligament damage, was another taking full part.

That puts both players in line for a return to action against Burnley on Saturday. The plan is likely to have been to protect De Bruyne, ahead of the scheduled Champions League second leg against Real Madrid next Tuesday.

But that game is likely to be postponed, and the whole competition suspended, which means there is no need for rotation for the Burnley game.

There was no sign of Laporte, who has been fighting to be fit for the return against Real, in footage of the training match.

Guardiola said he was back in training on Tuesday after damaging a hamstring in the first leg victory at the Bernabeu just over a fortnight ago.

It had been hoped that Laporte would return sooner than the expected three to four weeks initially diagnosed.

Stones was not in the derby matchday squad, and it was later revealed he also has a minor injury problem – it seems to have stopped him taking part in the game at the City Football Academy.
